The Asia Dengue Policy Working Group (ADPWG) recently hosted a webinar on 5th Dec 2025 titled “Sri Lanka’s Dengue Management System,” bringing together leading public health experts to share insights on the country’s strategies for managing and controlling dengue.
The webinar featured distinguished dengue experts from Sri Lanka:

Dr Ananda Wijewickrama, Consultant Physician and Dengue Expert; Senior Lecturer in Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka
Dr Lahiru Kodituwakku, Convener, Dengue Capacity Building Core Group, Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA); Former Disaster Management Focal Point Medical Officer, National Dengue Control Unit, Ministry of Health Sri Lanka
The session explored Sri Lanka’s comprehensive approach to dengue surveillance, prevention, and outbreak response, and highlighted key lessons that other dengue-endemic countries in the region may adapt to strengthen their national programmes.

The session concluded with reflections on how Sri Lanka’s learnings can support the broader regional effort towards achieving the World Health Organization (WHO)’s goal of Zero Dengue Deaths by 2030, and highlighted ADPWG’s forthcoming activities across Asia.
